The announcement was made at a public fundraising event held in Accra, on March 20, 2026, which was attended by President John Mahama and Sports Minister, Kofi Adams.

The significant investment is expected to provide a major boost to the Black Stars’ preparations as the team gears up for the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The fundraising campaign is aimed at mobilizing the resources needed to meet the demands of the elite nature of the competition, including logistics, training and overall team preparation.

As part of the initiative, a World Cup raffle draw was unveiled by President Mahama, as a key revenue stream to support the campaign.

Chairman of the Ghana World Cup Committee, Kurt Okraku (GFA President), revealed that the target is to raise US$30 million to fund the team’s participation, including four international friendly matches.

He further called for a collective national effort, urging individuals and the private sector to contribute to the campaign.
