Employees of GCB Bank PLC’s Internal Audit team have donated six computers and two colour printers to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, enhancing the facility’s capacity to manage patient records, support administrative functions, facilitate staff training and improve reporting processes.
The intervention forms part of 95 community projects being implemented nationwide under GCB Bank’s 2026 Staff Community Impact Programme (SCIP), an employee-led initiative aimed at positively impacting one million Ghanaians.
The project followed an assessment of the hospital’s operational needs by members of the Internal Audit team. During engagements with the hospital’s Administrative Officer and Estate Manager, the team identified challenges arising from outdated and slow computer systems, which were affecting administrative efficiency and the management of patient records. The hospital also lacked access to a colour printer, creating additional operational constraints.
To address these challenges, the team provided six Dell OptiPlex computers and two colour printers to support the hospital’s day-to-day operations. The equipment is expected to improve the efficiency of patient record management, data processing, reporting and other administrative functions, while also supporting staff training and educational activities within the facility.
The intervention is expected to benefit approximately 700 people, including about 600 patients and 100 members of staff. By improving access to reliable ICT resources, the project is also expected to contribute to more efficient service delivery and strengthen the hospital’s overall operational capacity.
Speaking on the broader impact of the Staff Community Impact Programme, Sadat Laminu, Head of Corporate Affairs at GCB Bank, said the initiative demonstrates the Bank’s commitment to supporting institutions that provide critical services to communities.

For the Internal Audit team, supporting the hospital’s ICT infrastructure was a practical way of helping staff perform their duties more effectively. Emmanuel Ayikwei Sackey, Head of Internal Audit at GCB Bank and a member of the project team, said the need became evident during the team’s engagement with hospital management.
“Our discussions with hospital staff highlighted the challenges they faced in carrying out routine administrative tasks using ageing equipment. We recognised that providing reliable computers and printers could make an immediate difference in areas such as patient record management, reporting and staff development. We are also committed to maintaining a relationship with the hospital by offering professional guidance on the effective utilisation and sustainability of the equipment to ensure it continues to deliver value over the long term.”
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the hospital, Emmanuel Hanson Torde, Deputy Director, Administration, expressed appreciation to GCB Bank and the Internal Audit team for responding to a critical operational need. He noted that the computers and printers would support the hospital’s administrative processes and improve staff efficiency.
To ensure the long-term value of the intervention, the Internal Audit team will maintain periodic engagement with the hospital to provide professional advice on equipment utilisation and sustainability. Proper maintenance and responsible use are also expected to help maximise the lifespan of the donated equipment.
The project reflects GCB employees’ commitment to advancing health and wellbeing through practical interventions that strengthen institutions providing essential and specialised healthcare services.
The Accra Psychiatric Hospital project is the 20th of 95 SCIP projects being implemented by GCB Bank employees across Ghana.

The Staff Community Impact Programme (SCIP) is GCB Bank’s nationwide employee-led community impact initiative, bringing together more than 4,500 employees across 95 groups to undertake 95 community projects across Ghana from August to September 2026.
