Employees of GCB Bank PLC’s Customer Experience team have provided desktop computers and laptops to the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra to strengthen its administrative and operational capacity and support more efficient service delivery.
The intervention forms part of 95 community projects being implemented nationwide under GCB Bank’s 2026 Staff Community Impact Programme (SCIP), an employee-led initiative aimed at positively impacting one million Ghanaians.
The project was undertaken following engagements with the hospital and an assessment of its operational needs. Through discussions with hospital management, the team identified a need for additional reliable ICT equipment to support staff in carrying out their day-to-day responsibilities more effectively.
In response, the team provided desktop computers and laptops to support a range of administrative and operational functions across the hospital. The equipment is expected to improve access to essential digital resources, helping staff to manage information more efficiently and streamline routine processes.
While hospital employees and management are the direct beneficiaries of the intervention, children receiving care, as well as their parents, guardians and other users of the facility, are expected to benefit indirectly from improved operational efficiency and enhanced service delivery.
Speaking on the broader impact of the Staff Community Impact Programme, Sadat Laminu, Head of Corporate Affairs at GCB Bank, said SCIP enables employees to respond to diverse community needs through practical interventions that support both individuals and institutions.
“SCIP continues to demonstrate that community needs are varied, and meaningful social impact often comes from addressing the challenges that communities identify as most important. In some cases, this may involve supporting healthcare delivery through medical equipment, while in others it may mean providing educational resources, improving access to water or strengthening institutional capacity. What remains constant is our employees’ commitment to using their time, skills and resources to create positive and lasting impact within the communities we serve,” he said.
For the Customer Experience team, the project presented an opportunity to support the systems and processes that enable healthcare professionals to perform their roles effectively. George Offei, Head of Customer Experience, said access to reliable ICT equipment can significantly enhance productivity and improve operational efficiency within healthcare institutions.
“During our engagement with the hospital, we realised that access to functional computers and laptops was essential to supporting the administrative and operational work that takes place behind the scenes. We wanted to provide equipment that staff could rely on every day to carry out their responsibilities more efficiently. Although the support is focused on administrative functions, the broader benefit extends to a hospital that provides critical healthcare services to children and their families.”
The equipment is expected to provide long-term value to the hospital through proper use, routine maintenance and regular software updates. Hospital management will oversee the responsible use, security and maintenance of the devices to ensure they continue supporting the facility’s operations for years to come.
The intervention reflects GCB employees’ commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through practical support for institutions that provide essential services to communities.
The Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital project is the 18th of 95 SCIP projects being implemented by GCB Bank employees across Ghana.
About the Staff Community Impact Programme
The Staff Community Impact Programme (SCIP) is GCB Bank’s nationwide employee-led community impact initiative, bringing together more than 4,500 employees across 95 groups to undertake 95 community projects across Ghana from August to September 2026.
The projects address needs across healthcare, education, water and sanitation, social protection, environmental sustainability, youth development, community safety and infrastructure, with the collective interventions aimed at positively impacting up to one million lives.
Through SCIP, GCB employees contribute their time, skills, resources and collective effort to support communities and strengthen a culture of volunteerism across the Bank.
