The Macallan, the world-renowned Scottish single malt whisky brand, made its Ghanaian debut with a new chapter in its visual identity on Monday, April 21, 2026, unveiling the redesigned Double Cask and Sherry Oak Collections through the Timeless Collection launch held in Accra.
The event, held at the Gallery 1957 in Kempinski Hotel Accra under a dress code of ‘Timeless Elegance,’ brought together 40 carefully curated guests, including Ghana’s leading socialites, tastemakers, and trade partners, marking the brand’s formal transition to a refined new visual identity.
It was a deliberate brand evolution that reinforces The Macallan’s craftsmanship, premium market positioning and long-term commitment to the West African market.
The launch served as both a commercial milestone and a cultural statement. Ghana’s expanding premium spirits market, driven by growth in on-trade venues, private collections and an increasingly discerning affluent consumer base, makes it a strategic territory for Edrington, The Macallan’s parent company.
“The Timeless Collection launch is an exciting moment for The Macallan across West Africa. It reflects our commitment to evolving thoughtfully while staying true to the heritage and craftsmanship that define the brand. For consumers, trade partners, and whisky enthusiasts, the new visual identity offers a clearer, more engaging way to experience the portfolio without altering the exceptional whisky they have come to know and trust.”
Hammed Adebiyi, Senior Brand Manager, West and Central Africa (WACA), Edrington on his part, said the redesign was developed in collaboration with celebrated graphic designer David Carson, a long-time creative partner of The Macallan.
Carson’s approach draws on symbols from the brand’s first 200 years while establishing a contemporary visual language for the future. The updated bottle silhouette is inspired by the sweeping roof of The Macallan’s Speyside distillery; the triangular shoulder label references Spain’s Sherry Triangle; and new cask symbols on the rear labels communicate the influence of American and European oak clearly to the consumer.
Beyond aesthetics, the new packaging reflects The Macallan’s sustainability commitments. The bottles are fully recyclable, with unnecessary foiling and plastic removed and glass weight reduced, without compromising the premium feel associated with the brand. Each bottle also carries advanced anti-counterfeit technology and a unique QR code for traceability.
Importantly, the whisky itself remains unchanged. The Double Cask Collection continues to offer its smooth balance shaped by European and American oak casks seasoned with sherry wine. The Sherry Oak Collection retains its rich, complex character from European oak. The Macallan’s message is unambiguous: only the exterior has evolved.
The Accra launch follows the collection’s Nigerian debut in Lagos on 17 April 2026, where the brand hosted an intimate gathering of Lagos personalities for a guided tasting and performance. The rollout continues across Abuja and Port Harcourt in Nigeria.
For Ghana’s growing community of premium whisky consumers and hospitality professionals, the Timeless Collection represents both an invitation and an opportunity to engage with a globally recognised brand at a moment of purposeful reinvention.
