President John Dramani Mahama has nominated five professionals for appointment to Ghana’s Fiscal Council, in line with Section 11D of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), as amended.

The nominees are Dr. Emmanuel Oteng Kumah as Chairperson, Prof. Patrick Opoku Asuming, Leslie Dwight Mensah, J. Kweku Bedu-Addo, and Dr. Henry Akpenamawu Kofi Wampah. Together, they bring a blend of experience spanning academia, public policy, research, and financial governance.

The nominations are intended to reinforce the Council’s statutory mandate to provide independent oversight of fiscal policy, assess compliance with fiscal rules, and promote discipline and transparency in the management of public finances.

According to the presidency, the diverse professional backgrounds of the nominees are expected to strengthen evidence-based analysis and enhance the credibility of fiscal oversight at a time when prudent public financial management remains a priority.
