Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) Managing Director, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, has filed a GH¢10 million defamation suit at the Accra High Court over Facebook publications she says falsely linked her to alleged narcotics trafficking and abuse of office.
Her lawyers have also issued a cease-and-desist notice to Facebook user Samuel Bryan Buabeng, demanding the removal of posts they describe as defamatory.
In a letter to Mr Buabeng, the lawyers objected to a September 22, 2026, publication on his publicly accessible Facebook page, which featured Ms Opare’s name and photograph alongside Frank Danquah.
The post referred to Mr Danquah as “Frank Dankwa”, described him as Ms Opare’s “favourite member of staff” and alleged he was “the AVSEC supervisor who aided the drug baron.”
It further claimed that Mr Danquah had emptied bank accounts, with the least containing more than GH¢500,000, before concluding that “the Cocainenomy is on the right footing, with people in high places benefiting immensely.”
Ms Opare’s lawyers argue that the publication’s wording and use of her photograph implied an improper relationship with Mr Danquah and suggested she was connected to, or benefited from, narcotics trafficking.

They described the allegations as “grave imputations of criminal involvement, corruption and abuse of office”, which their client “categorically denies and rejects”.
The lawyers said Mr Danquah joined GACL on September 1, 2004, and has no personal connection with Ms Opare beyond their respective official positions.
They added that she rejects the description of him as her “favourite member of staff” and maintains that she neither participated in nor benefited from the alleged criminal activity.

The legal notice demands the removal of the September 22 post and related comments, as well as other publications containing what the lawyers consider false and defamatory allegations.
It also calls for an unconditional retraction, an unreserved public apology and a written undertaking that the allegations will not be repeated.
The GH¢10 million claim has been filed at the Accra High Court, where Ms Opare is seeking damages over the alleged defamatory publications.
