The government has paid GH¢10.82 billion to bondholders under Ghana’s Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), marking the third consecutive coupon payment made fully in cash and on schedule.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday,  government said a total of GH¢10,816,840,318.26 had been disbursed to bondholders, underscoring its commitment to meeting debt-service obligations.

The latest payment brings the cumulative amount paid to DDEP bondholders since 2025 to GH¢41.36 billion, according to the ministry.

Officials described the timely settlement as evidence of growing fiscal discipline and a sign of government’s determination to honour obligations arising from the domestic debt restructuring programme.

The ministry said the payment is expected to bolster investor confidence in the economy, lower perceptions of sovereign default risk and strengthen Ghana’s financial credibility in both domestic and international markets.

The Domestic Debt Exchange Programme, introduced as part of broader economic and fiscal reforms, was designed to restore debt sustainability while maintaining stability in the financial sector. Since its implementation, timely servicing of restructured bonds has remained a key test of government’s ability to rebuild market confidence.

Government further assured bondholders, investors and the general public that all future DDEP coupon and debt-service obligations would be settled in full and according to schedule.

“The timely payment demonstrates government’s fiscal discipline and firm commitment to meeting all its debt obligations,” the ministry said.

The statement was issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Finance.
