ICAG NSRI committee pays courtesy call on Ministry of Finance

The National Sustainability Reporting Implementation Committee (NSRIC) of Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) has paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Finance to brief the Ministry on the Committee’s mandate and seek collaboration towards the effective implementation of sustainability reporting in Ghana.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Andy Akoto, and comprised the President of ICAG, Mr. Augustine Addo; Vice President, Rev. Dr. Cynthia Sallah; Past President and NSRIC member, Ms. Sena Dake; Director of Technical and Research and NSRIC member, Mr. Osei Kwaku Adjaye-Gyamfi; President-Elect, Dr. Isaac Nyame; and Vice President-Elect, COP Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah.

The delegation was received by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem; the Chief Director of the Ministry, Dr. Patrick Nomo; and the Director of Research, Mrs. Nelly Mireku.

Briefing the Ministry, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Andy Akoto, outlined the mandate of the NSRIC and its role in supporting the effective implementation of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards, IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, in Ghana. He also used the opportunity to formally invite the Minister for Finance, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, through the Deputy Minister, to grace the 2026 National Sustainability Conference, tentatively scheduled for October.

Speaking during the meeting, ICAG President, Mr. Augustine Addo congratulated Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance on his appointment and commended his leadership and commitment to Ghana’s economic management.

He recalled that the Minister had demonstrated exceptional dedication even during his days as an ICAG student and stated that the Institute was proud of his achievements.

Mr. Addo further assured the Ministry of ICAG’s continued support for the Government’s economic reform agenda. Acknowledging the Minister’s demanding schedule, he nevertheless expressed the Institute’s hope that the Minister would honour the invitation to the National Sustainability Conference and lend his voice to advancing sustainability reporting in Ghana.

The Deputy Minister commended the Committee for the visit and for updating the Ministry on its work. He noted that the Ministry has a Climate Unit and indicated that an officer from the Unit would be designated to liaise with the Committee to ensure regular communication on its programmes and activities, thereby enabling the Ministry to provide the necessary support.

ICAG President-Elect, Dr. Isaac Nyame also underscored the importance of the Minister’s participation in the upcoming National Sustainability Conference, expressing the Committee’s eagerness to welcome him to the event.

The visit also served as an opportunity for the Committee to formally congratulate the Minister on his appointment and commend his achievements in office.

On behalf of the Minister, the Deputy Minister expressed appreciation for the visit, assured the delegation that the invitation and messages of goodwill would be conveyed to the Minister, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the work of the National Sustainability Reporting Implementation Committee in promoting sustainability reporting in Ghana.
