GRA commends CPS study, urges constant policy assessment

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has praised the Centre for Policy Scrutiny (CPS), for their study on the impact of abolished taxes on businesses and individuals, highlighting its importance for policy formulation and accountability.

Elsie Appau-Klu ESQ, the Technical Advisor to the GRA Commissioner-General, Mr Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, emphasized the role of independent research in informing effective governance and fiscal decisions.

She commended CPS’s efforts and encouraged ongoing research, public engagement, and scrutiny to support national development.

The CPS study analyzed the fiscal and equity effects of eliminating taxes like the E-Levy, COVID-19 Levy, and Betting Tax, prompting renewed public debate on revenue and economic policies.

Ms. Klu highlighted that such research enhances transparency, accountability, and public debate on government policy as well as measures which alleviates challenges among small and medium businesses, including the general population.

She called on Ghanaians to fulfill their tax obligations, emphasizing domestic revenue’s critical role in funding development projects and national growth.
