The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has said that the commissioning of the Sahara LPG Vessel by President John Dramani Mahama will boost Ghana’s Energy Infrastructure.
The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, today, Thursday, March 12, commissioned the Sahara LPG Vessel (Asharami Ghana) in Ulsan, South Korea.
The commissioning ceremony, attended by the Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority, Mr Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq. and other key industry players in the energy sector marks a significant collaboration aimed at improving LPG storage and supply capacity in the country.
The NPA posted on its X page that “This investment reinforces the value of strategic storage, which has safeguarded the nation in past emergencies and remains essential in preventing future fuel shortages.
“It is a strong signal that partnerships and forward-looking investments will continue to secure Ghana’s energy future.”

The vessel, named MT Asharami Ghana, was built for Sahara Energy by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Limited.
Mahama, who is on a working visit to Korea, said the acquisition of the LPG vessel will strengthen Ghana’s liquefied petroleum gas supply chain.
“Today we celebrate not only engineering excellence but also the power of partnership,” the president said.
It represents a crucial step toward energy security for Ghana, President Mahama stated, adding that such investments contribute to building “a just and inclusive energy transition that benefits present and future generations.”
“Ghana, like many of our neighbouring countries, recognises the transformative potential of LPG in supporting socio-economic development,” he added.
