The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has launched its 2026 Staff Welfare Week, with activities focused on employee well-being, entrepreneurship, teamwork and institutional unity.

The week-long celebration is being held under the theme, “Our People, Our Teamwork and the Spirit That Makes NPA One Family.”

The launch took place on Monday, September 28, at the Authority’s forecourt, alongside a breakfast meeting. Deputy Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan Mensah, was the Special Guest of Honour.

Addressing staff, NPA Chief Executive, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq., praised employees for their dedication and contribution to the Authority’s work.

He said management remained committed to addressing staff welfare concerns and providing an enabling environment for employees to perform and develop.

Mr Tameklo outlined measures introduced to improve staff welfare, including responsibility and professional allowances, increased travelling allowances and an extension of paternity leave.

Deputy Minister Gyan Mensah said staff welfare should remain a priority, stressing that the Authority’s effectiveness depended on a motivated, healthy and respected workforce.

“The NPA plays a pivotal role in Ghana’s energy sector and, for this reason, staff welfare must never be regarded as an afterthought,” he said.

He added that employee well-being was fundamental to institutional effectiveness.

Outgoing Welfare Committee Chairman, Ernest Ayeh Darteh, also underscored the importance of staff contributions to the Authority’s growth and success.

As part of its corporate social responsibility activities, the NPA commissioned two boreholes, each with a capacity of 20,000 litres, at Mangoase and Tinkong in the Eastern Region.

The celebration will continue on Tuesday with an entrepreneurial fair for staff, followed by a sustainable waste management workshop on Wednesday. A quiz competition involving the Authority’s directorates and regional offices is also scheduled.

The programme will conclude on Friday with a wrap-up party.

The annual celebration is intended to promote collaboration, innovation and a shared sense of belonging while keeping staff welfare at the centre of the Authority’s organisational culture.
