GRA reassures taxpayers amid payment system disruptions

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has assured taxpayers, importers and clearing agents that ongoing technical challenges affecting tax payments through the Ghana.gov platform are being addressed as a matter of urgency.

According to the Authority, the intermittent disruptions, which began on August 14, 2026, have affected payment transactions initiated through key revenue and customs systems, including the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS), and the Ghana Integrated Tax Management and Information System (GITMIS).

In a statement issued by its Communication and Public Affairs Department, GRA clarified that the issue is limited to payment processing and does not affect the filing of tax returns.

“The payment platform remains operational; however, some payment transactions may experience delays in processing or in reflecting on taxpayers’ respective portals,” the Authority explained.

The development has raised concerns among businesses and taxpayers who rely on the digital platform for timely settlement of tax obligations and customs-related payments.

GRA indicated that it is collaborating closely with relevant technical partners to restore normal service and ensure that affected transactions are successfully processed.

“Technical interventions are ongoing, and the matter is being treated with the highest priority,” the statement noted, adding that all outstanding payment transactions will be processed and reflected on taxpayers’ portals once the system is fully normalised.

The Authority further assured stakeholders that measures have been put in place to minimise disruptions and address pending transactions.

While apologising for the inconvenience caused, GRA appealed for patience and understanding from taxpayers and other users of the platform as efforts continue to resolve the challenge.

The Authority said it would provide further updates as necessary.

Ghana.gov serves as the government’s central digital payment platform, enabling citizens and businesses to make payments for a range of public services, including taxes, levies, fees and customs-related transactions.
