Ghana’s year-on-year inflation rate for January 2026 stood at 3.8 per cent, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has announced.
The rate represents the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the 12‑month period from January 2025 to January 2026.
The CPI measures the average change over time in the prices of goods and services purchased for household consumption, using 2021 as the base year (index = 100).
According to the GSS, the monthly inflation rate for January 2026 was 0.2 per cent.
Food and non‑food inflation
Both the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages group and the Non-Food group recorded identical year‑on‑year inflation rates of 3.9 per cent for the period under review.
Regional performance
Inflation varied across the regions, ranging from –2.6 per cent in the Savannah Region to 11.2 per cent in the North East Region.
Eight regions recorded inflation rates above the national average of 3.8 per cent.
Trends
Inflation has trended downward significantly over the past year, moving from a high of 23.5 per cent in January 2025 to 3.8 per cent in January 2026.
