The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has hosted a three-member delegation from the Eswatini National Petroleum Company (ENPC) as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and promote knowledge-sharing among African petroleum institutions.
The technical study visit was aimed at exposing the delegation to Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry and the regulatory frameworks used to promote operational efficiency, product quality, safety and effective industry oversight.
The ENPC delegation comprised Board Member, Mr Dumezweni Dlamini; Chief Executive Officer, Ms Nontombi Motsa; and General Manager for Strategy and Communications, Mr Musa Shongwe.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the NPA Chief Executive, Director of Quality Assurance, Mr Setsoafia K. Agbenoto, underscored the importance of collaboration among African petroleum institutions in addressing common industry challenges.
He said knowledge-sharing was essential as countries worked to strengthen energy security, improve regulatory effectiveness and build resilient petroleum industries.
The visit forms part of a broader programme by ENPC to learn from Ghana’s experience in developing and managing its petroleum sector as the Eswatini company seeks to strengthen its institutional and operational capacity.
During their stay in Ghana, the delegation engaged with institutions across the petroleum value chain to gain insights into the country’s industry practices and regulatory arrangements.
In response, Mr Dlamini thanked the NPA for the warm reception and its willingness to share knowledge and best practices with the visiting delegation.
ENPC, Eswatini’s national oil company, is mandated to contribute to the security of petroleum-product supply through the sourcing, storage and trading of petroleum products.
The engagement highlights the role of regional cooperation in facilitating the exchange of regulatory experience and industry expertise to support petroleum sector development across Africa.
