MTN Ghana has appointed seasoned human resources executive Esi Mmirba Wilson as its new Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO), with effect from April 15, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen its people strategy and support the company’s long-term growth ambitions.
The appointment aligns with MTN Ghana’s Ambition 2030 strategy, which places strong emphasis on building a high-performance, future-ready organisation driven by talent, culture and digital capability.
Ms. Wilson brings more than 23 years of experience in human resource leadership, organisational transformation and culture change across multiple sectors. She is widely recognised for her role in Ghana’s banking sector consolidation, where she led the integration of seven banks, managing the recruitment, transition and cultural alignment of over 2,500 employees.
Her work during the consolidation process focused on embedding a performance-driven and values-led culture, supported by leadership development, strategic workforce planning and data-driven HR practices.
Ms. Wilson holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Ghana and a BA (Hons) in Publishing Studies from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
She is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), a Certified Change Practitioner, and an Agile HR Certified Practitioner.
She is also a Chartered Banker, Certified Retail Banker, and holds a Professional Executive Master of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Additionally, she is an IFC–LPI certified facilitator and an alumna of the Emeritus–LRMG Executive Leadership Programme in South Africa.
In her new role, Ms. Wilson will lead MTN Ghana’s human capital strategy, talent development, organisational effectiveness and culture transformation agenda, with a focus on attracting, developing and retaining critical capabilities to drive sustainable growth and enhance customer experience.
Commenting on the appointment, Stephen Blewett, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, said Ms. Wilson’s experience positions her well to support the company’s strategic direction.
