Kwahu Business Summit: Manufacturing must anchor Ghana’s growth agenda – Chief of Staff

by Business Post

Chief of Staff , Julius Debrah has called for renewed national focus on manufacturing as a key driver of Ghana’s economic transformation, stressing the need for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to achieve sustainable growth.

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Friday, April 3, he underscored the importance of placing manufacturing at the centre of the country’s development agenda, noting that a bigger, more stable, and inclusive economy cannot be realised without a deliberate push in the sector.

He emphasised the need for government to lead in creating an enabling environment to support industrial expansion, citing policy clarity, macroeconomic discipline, improved infrastructure, efficient regulation, skills development, and reliable power supply as critical pillars.

According to him, these fundamentals are essential for business growth, warning that without a stable and predictable operating environment, long-term investment in manufacturing will remain constrained.

He, however, urged the private sector to rise to the occasion and complement public efforts through bold investments and sustained innovation.

He further encouraged businesses to formalise their operations where necessary and scale beyond their comfort zones to remain competitive and contribute meaningfully to economic growth.

“The private sector must invest boldly, innovate consistently, formalise where necessary, and scale beyond its comfort zone. We must build firms that think not only about immediate margins, but also about long-term competitiveness, resilience, and national impact.”
