President John Dramani Mahama has applauded the First Sky Group for its philanthropic works across the country, explaining that such gestures impact lives in positive ways.
The President said the Group’s investments in health, social and religious facilities – such as building of churches, is exemplary and must be adopted by other corporate entities.
Speaking as guests of honour at First Sky Group’s 23rd Anniversary and Thanksgiving on January 25, President Mahama explained that such kind gestures must be anchored on faith with the knowledge that, good deeds do not go unnoticed.
“Faith enjoins us to reach our hands to persons who are underprivileged and need support in society” he said.
In the area of health, President Mahama appreciated the Group for investing some GH¢51 million to provide free dialysis at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital over the past eight years.
“These gestures would lead to restoration of lives, reunion of families, whilst reclaiming hopes to near-loss of lives,” he said.
The President also commended the Group for investing heavily in church infrastructure, as the company has so far built over 101 churches nationwide, and has begun construction of additional 50 churches, 50 mission houses and auxiliary facilities for the Assemblies of God Ghana, with completion targeted for the end of the year.
Addressing dignitaries at the event, Executive Chairman of First Sky Group, Mr. Eric Seddy Kutortse, reaffirmed the Group’s belief that economic growth and success of corporate entities, must not neglect the vulnerable.
“So far as we continue to exist as a Group, we shall continue to proclaim God’s glory through touching lives” Chairman Kutortse emphasized.
He expressed profound gratitude to the government for the Mahama CARE initiative, which has now absorbed dialysis costs nationwide.
With this relief, the Group, he disclosed, has redirected its support to free kidney transplants. He said the Group fully sponsored six successful transplant procedures in Ghana last year.
The event which was themed, “Proclaiming the mighty deeds of the Lord (Psalm 71:15-16)” congregated several dignitaries including Apostle General Sam Korankye Ankrah, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, Members of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, and other key personalities.
