The Executive Chairman of First Sky Group, Mr. Eric Seddy Kutortse, has attributed the company’s 23‑year journey of growth, impact and resilience to the sustaining grace of God, underscoring that the Group’s achievements reflect “the mighty deeds of the Lord.”
Delivering the keynote welcome address at the company’s 23rd Anniversary Thanksgiving Service at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Sunday January 25, Mr. Kutortse said the theme for the celebration — “Proclaiming the Mighty Deeds of the Lord” — mirrors the Group’s conviction that divine guidance has been central to its progress from a single business entity to a diversified Ghanaian conglomerate.
The ceremony was graced by President John Dramani Mahama, who was acknowledged for honouring the event. Mr. Kutortse commended the President on completing his first year in office and prayed for “wisdom, strength and clarity” as he leads the nation.
Commitment to purpose
Mr. Kutortse stressed that the Group’s founding objectives remain unchanged: to be useful to the nation, useful to humanity, and useful to God.
He revealed that beyond job creation and business expansion, the company prioritises spiritual transformation among its staff.
“Last year and this year, about 40 staff gave their lives to Jesus Christ at our annual all-night service,” he said, noting that five of them had converted from other faiths, with two expressing interest in enrolling in Bible school.
He further disclosed that First Sky Group continues to invest heavily in church infrastructure. The company has so far built over 101 churches nationwide and has begun construction of an additional 50 churches, 50 mission houses and auxiliary facilities for the Assemblies of God Ghana, with completion targeted for the end of the year.
Expanding footprint in key sectors
Highlighting the company’s growth, Mr. Kutortse said, First Sky Group now operates across multiple sectors including construction, insurance, hospitality, commodities, bitumen processing, energy and rural banking.
Collectively, these businesses employ over 6,000 people nationwide.
He said the Group’s sustainability is a testament to the nation’s belief in Ghanaian capacity. “We have grown this far because Ghana chose to believe in Ghanaian enterprise,” he said, stressing that public‑private collaboration is essential for national development.
Mr. Kutortse expressed appreciation to President Mahama for the government’s Big Push agenda, which he said has recognised First Sky Construction’s capacity and competence, enabling the company to expand its workforce and strengthen local participation in infrastructure development.
Tribute to staff
In concluding, the Executive Chairman dedicated the anniversary to the staff of the Group, recognising their dedication through uncertainty and growth.
“Let us continue to build, serve and lead with humility,” he urged. “To prove again and again that Ghanaian businesses can be ethical, excellent and globally competitive.”
He thanked stakeholders, partners, traditional leaders, clergy, guests and family members for joining in the celebration, praying for God’s continued blessing on Ghana.
